West Pembroke Pines Optimist Miracle League Volunteer Opportunities
The WPPO Miracle League operates during the fall season between August and November. Most games
are played on Friday evenings. Warm-ups begin at 7:00pm, followed by the actual game which starts at
7:30PM. The game is played under tee ball rules where there are no outs, everybody scores and enjoy a
good time.
We are always in need of volunteers to serve as buddies, coaches and umpires. Buddies are youth (ages
12 and up) and adults who assist the player (when needed) in batting, running the bases, protecting the
player from hard hit balls. The best part is being a friend on and off the field. Our volunteers can be
family members, local girls and boys youth teams and civic groups just to mention a few. This is a great
opportunity for high school students to earn community hours required for graduation and at the same
time give back to the community they live in. The volunteers 'Buddies' are referred to as 'Angels in the
Outfield'.
